Hi Victoria,
I believe this is a town way to water, is DNR treating Japanese knotweed at the end of town landing ave near pleasant street?
Thanks,

Good morning. I went down to 46 yesterday. Someone is spraying the bamboo on the other side of the fence and all down onto the landing right up to our property line. Must be the same
person who cut it all back in the fall. Assuming it’s a neighbor who doesn’t want the invasive mess blocking their view or someone who wants to free up parking and beach space at the
landing, which is obviously not ideal for us. Our privacy and separation from the landing is now completely obliterated. I sent pictures showing the treated bamboo versus the healthy
sprouts on our property. We have decided to stop using herbicide and just continue to cut down the bamboo as it sprouts up. Going to get whatever native grasses I can find at local
garden centers according to your list. Will plant those on the bank. Will send pictures once this is completed, hopefully by mid-June. Thanks

Good morning,
Have you had a chance to compile a plan or list of plants for the bare area at 46 pleasant street?

Hi Nicholette,
Herbicides are currently the best management practice to eliminate most invasive species on the Cape, but they require a permit for use in conservation jurisdiction and must be applied
by a person holding pesticide applicator license. If you wish to go this route, please submit a request for determination of applicability, filing forms linked here <https://www.yarmouth.ma.us/696/F
iling-Forms-Fees-and-Meeting-Schedule> . Our planting guidelines page which includes an approved list and sample planting plans is also linked. https://www.yarmouth.ma.us/1784/Planting-Guidelines

Good morning.. ok thanks, I will ask first in the future! Is it ok to use herbicides on the invasive plants? Is there a list of approved plantings you can share so I can work on a
plan for spring?
Thank you!
Nicholette

Hello,
Thanks for your response. In general, all work within the buffer zone must be reviewed by Conservation, including invasive species removal and native plantings. Please contact Conservation
prior to any work in these areas in the future. Were any herbicides used for the removal? These species are likely to resprout, and I would suggest controlling any re-sprouts in the
spring prior to planting the natives. Please provide a proposed planting list for the area for review.
You do not need to attend the meeting as stated in the enforcement order, and it will be resolved once the planting plan is approved and implemented.

Hi Brittany! We are confused about this. This summer we removed the highly invasive bamboo and bittersweet from the corner of our yard (grass area) and a little bit that was on the
slope down to the marsh. We only cleared over to our fence. We didn't remove anything from the marsh area except the abundance of trash and debris that had collected there from the
river. We just wanted to clean up that corner and get rid of the invasive stuff. We apologize if that’s against the rules. We hoped to plant native species and grasses in that area
next spring.
Thanks,
Nicholette and Jeff Catalano

Hello,
It has come to our attention that a vegetated area has been cleared within conservation jurisdiction at your property. Please find attached a draft enforcement order for the Conservation
Commission to discuss with you at the meeting on November 21, 2024 at 5pm. A copy has also been sent in the mail. If you have any questions, please let me know.
