BOARD OF APPEALS
My name is Kevin McNamara, and my family and I have resided at 243 Old Main St., on the corner of Crosby St., for 27
years. To my memory, the Osprey platform in question has been there the entire time. Years ago, walking our young
children down to the river on Crosby St. Extension, we would always stop and admire the active nest. It lead to many
great educational conversations including migration, nest building, feeding from the fish in the river, and the miracle of
raising young chicks. It was always exciting to see one of the parents fly back into the nest with a fish in it's talons, and
the flurry that would ensue on the platform.
Coincidentally, four years ago a pair of Osprey set up residence right on top of an old water tower in our yard, giving us
a front row seat to their habits and lifestyle. It's been wonderful, and my now grown children still very much enjoy all
the activity from above when they come back to visit us. We live in a very special place here on Cape Cod, and
particularly in this neighborhood with it's close proximity to the Bass River. Many people would love the privilege of
having such a close view of wild birds. Please consider this when evaluating the platform at 40 Crosby Street. My wife
Peggy and I are in complete support of having it remain there.
Sincerely,
Kevin McNamara
