My father bought this house 67 years ago in 1958, when there were few houses and trees anywhere
around. [see below] I have visited most every year since then, and moved here full me in 2002. Of
course, things have changed over the years, but I have always told people the best thing about this
house is the outside. We have a view of the dal marsh with its rich array of wildlife [see atached], and
of Lewis Bay with the sailboats, the ferries, the diving ospreys, gorgeous sunsets, and excing storms.
And of course, I have wonderful memories of gatherings of family, mostly gone now, and friends.
This has been my sanctuary, the place I feel most alive, most peaceful, most nurtured, and most grateful.
Current view from deck - June 2025
I am here to request that no large plants/trees, eg. Tupulo trees, are planted where no trees have ever
been if they would ever block this view. If the ability to see the water is destroyed, the enre nature of
my life would be negavely impacted . And of course, the value of the property would be greatly
diminished.
I believe the purpose of the planngs is to migate any flooding and that can probably be done just as
effecvely with shrubs and bushes. I would request that nothing new be planted in this area that would
ever grow over 5-6 feet. I would also hope that any planngs aren’t so dense that the wildlife can’t easily
move along the edge of the marsh.

Right next to the fence between our two properes is a large cedar tree where great horned owls live in
the late fall and winter. I would hope this tree would not be removed for this project.
Thank you for your atenon.
