Scope of Project: Site Evaluation Existing Fire Escape for Structural Adequacy
In accordance with Section 1001.2.2 of the 10th Ed. Massachusetts State Building Code, I,
Peter J. Falk Massachusetts Registration No. _43315
being a registered professional Engineer, hereby certify that I have performed the following professional
services for the STRUCTURAL WORK for this project as described below:
1) Completed a site review of the exposed surfaces of the existing fire escape (s)
2) Performed visual observation for potential degradation of material, loss of section, rot or
connection failure that could affect the structural integrity of the original condition of the fire
escape.
3) and, either informed the Owner or Architect of the need for repairs to bring the structure into
compliance, and/or
4) Determined that the fire escape structure as of this date, is in sound condition and structurally
adequate based on the original design/installation and have so stated below.
Al! new fire escapes must be designed to the load capacity posted in ASCE7.
Be advised that the fire escapes identified in this affidavit are considered existing-nonconforming to the
new building code. Their ability to continue to function is solely based on the original design, and the
structure has not significantly degraded beyond its original installation.
The Referenced fire escape(s) are in sound structural condition based on their original installation.
