I am writing to express my strong support of Marilyn Brown and Frank Southworth's
application for ZBA setback relief for the location of their shed and deck. They live at 40
Lorena Road; I live at 22 Lewis Bay Rd. I support their ZBA application to move their shed
closer to the southwest corner of their back yard, remaining inside their fence but nearer to
their fence and off the leaching field. I also understand and support their proposal to
reduce the size of the shed's deck to keep the shed and deck under the 150 SF limit. Their
shed is used to house their bikes and gardening tools. In its new location it would have no
negative effect on the character of our neighborhood, being of a size and style consistent
with the location of other sheds in the neighborhood. To be without the shed would
represent a hardship to Frank and Marilyn. Living on a small corner lot with a leaching field
severely limits their options to locate the shed elsewhere.
In addition, I also support the location of their existing deck at the back of their house. They
have replaced the original poor quality wrap -around deck on the back and one side of the
house with a slightly larger higher quality deck that causes no undue nuisance, hazard or
congestion, and does no substantial harm to the established and future character of our
neighborhood. It is a beautiful deck that adds to their property and in no way infringes on
any neighbors.
