HomeMy WebLinkAboutRe Debris on Seagull from fireworks 2023Hello All, Captain Inspector Huck spoke with a man who expressed concern for the fireworks debris. When issuing a fireworks permit the FD can impose restrictions. These restrictions are put on the fireworks company. While I think it’s a good idea to put responsibility on the fireworks company, I think the sponsor has some responsibility as well. The sponsor, Seaside Festival Committee, fills out the town use form seeking permission to use the land. Responsibility should be put on the sponsor through this form. He picked up about 40 pounds worth of debris from the fireworks that were set off during the Seaside Festival. He said there is much more buried in the sand between the jetty and the dunes. He plans on bringing his trash bag with the debris to Bob Whritenour. Mostly tiny pieces of plastics. He is hoping there will be a change to the firework permits to hold someone accountable to clean up the mess afterwards, so it does not end up in the ocean and dunes. # 774-487-6861. I went to seagull this afternoon and I couldn’t see any debris from the fireworks. Maybe it blew away or else the company that set them off came back today and cleaned up.
