Hi Brittany,
I was able to speak with the contractor this afternoon. He confirmed that the 2 primary pieces of equipment he will be using are a pneumatic jet needle gun and an electric bristle blaster.
No grinding tools are involved. He also plans to schedule and complete the work within the low tide cycles and will be covering the revetment and beach area with ground tarps to collect
any rust and paint chips that fall that way.

I’ll double check, but my understanding is the surface prep isn’t done by grinding. They use a specialized tool with dozens of peening rods that pound the surface. It’s supposed to
contain the debris. However, there’s a revetment between the water and the wall, so I’ll check to see what his approach will be.

My contractor has not yet sent me a formal quote but I was able to get him to send me the scope of work for what he will be proposing. I’m working with Coastal Marine Construction
out of Stoughton. I believe I mentioned the work would be scheduled either mid- to late-Fall or Spring 2026 depending on weather and workload.
“Scope of Work to be Completed on Seawall Cap for Richard White at 194 Berry Ave, West Yarmouth
1. Remove all rust and bring the 400s.f. surface of seawall cap to a commercial profile using pneumatic/electric tools sspc sp-3. Ground tarps will be used to contain rust and paint
chips.
2. Once a commercial profile is achieved, Sherwin Williams Zinc Clad 2 primer will be applied, followed by Sherwin Williams Corothane 1 Coal Tar top coat.
3. Equipment used on site will include a 185 cfm diesel air compressor and a towed diesel generator.
NOTE: Any MSDS sheets required can be sent upon request.”
Please let me know if this type of maintenance work would be covered under the original permit.

Good morning, my name is Richard White and I am the owner of 194 Berry Ave, West Yarmouth. I am looking for direction on how to begin the permitting process for making repairs to
my sea wall. It was completely rebuilt in 2019 when we replaced an existing concrete bulkhead with steel sheet pile.
Unfortunately I am experiencing a large amount of rusting on the cap that runs the full length of the wall. I’ve been told it is just superficial and not affecting structural integrity,
however I am still interested in having it re-epoxied. I was hoping to speak to someone who could advise me on what type of repairs might be allowed and how to begin the approval process.
