The records of the Department do not reflect any undergroundstorage tanks on the above mentioned site. The site wasoccupied for several years by Pilgrim Equipment Company and this
company sold new and used tractor6, backhoes and other types of
machinery and equipment. In addition to sales , service work
was also performed on the site for various forms tools andequipment. On several occasions this Department asked to havethe site cleaned up and the requests were honored.
The property to the south of the site is occupied by a heavy
equipmenL company and there have been several occasions thatthere were questioned spills or releases of hazardous materials.
Directly across Town Brook Road there was a municipal dump,that was the Town Dump, in which there were open fires to reducematerials brought in. The site has been closed for at least 30years.
Dlagonally across the street there was a storage area forfuel oil that was stored in above ground tanks and there was
underground tank that was removed that possibLy containedgasoline. At the time that the tanks !/rere removed from the sthe Massachusetts Department of Quality Engineering (now D.E.
caused a site cleanup to be preformed do to hazardous materia
being found on the site.
