rev 3/2025
The work as described in the amended project description (attached) is approved 9/8/2025 with
the following conditions: Trees must be removed by flush cutting and the stumps are to remain and not ground. Removed
trees must be replaced 2:1 with minimum 1.5" caliper native trees. At least 3 of these replacements must be oaks (including
Scrub Oak, Quercus ilicifolia) and the remaining must be native canopy-sized trees, such as Red Maple (Acer rubrum).
Pruning of the small limbs on the tree to the East of the house is not approved at this time. These limbs are not dead or
overhanging the roof, and thus require an RDA for vista pruning.
42 Medinah Drive Project Narrative
The proposed project involves selective tree removals and pruning to address active roof
damage, safety risks and liability concerns from the insurance company while minimizing
site disturbance. Specifically:
• Removal of three (3) trees on our property: Each has major limbs extending over
the roofline, causing damage and posing a liability risk. Trees will be removed to
near-grade; stumps cut flush and left in place for soil stability unless otherwise
directed.
• On-property limb-only removal (separate tree): One significant branch extends
over the house; we propose removing only that limb to reduce risk while retaining
the tree.
• Neighbor’s tree: Remove large branch(s) that overhang our roof and presents a
hazard.
• Multi-stemmed on-property tree: Remove deadwood and perform selective crown
cleaning/structural pruning to improve health and safety.
• Clearance pruning on another on-property tree: Prune small, low branches for
safe clearance while preserving overall canopy. Not approved.
All work will be performed by a licensed tree contractor/arborist using industry-standard
practices to protect surrounding vegetation and soils. As requested, we are amenable to
plant suitable native understory shrubs/trees to offset canopy loss. We are happy to work
with the commission/conservation for quantity and selection.
