Sandi - please forward the comments below to Chairman DeYoung and other Board members
Dear Mr. Chairman and members of the Zoning Board,
I am Susan Brita, and reside in West Yarmouth. I cannot participate by Zoom in the 12/10/2020 BZA meeting but have
submitted the statement below and ask that it be considered during the public comment period in opposition to petition
4869.
Petition 4869 involves removal of a conforming business sign along rt 28 and replacing the sign with a nonconforming
sign. I believe one of the principle goals of zoning is to create and encourage a community environment that conforms to
zoning requirements. Application of such requirements assures consistency and all are treated fairly.
During several recent visioning sessions, residents have loudly expressed dismay over the dismal condition of rt 28, but
are hopeful that new development opportunities afforded by the wastewater project will enhance rt 28. Strict
adherence to zoning requirements will lay at the ground work for such opportunities.
I urge the board to reject the application, which would sacrifice public benefit for private gain.
Thank you
Susan Brita
