Hayes Alexander Catto John E. Harris Thomas PAtthews ,Kenneth H. Studley to following appeared in favor of the appeals Peter Sykes Herman Curtis Howard Craig (filbert Studley - would like to see elevation plans The following appeared in oppositions None Harold Hayes: For the benefit of several people who may not know the workings.of the Board of appeal I want to express the purpose of this Board. We can only grant a variance when a hardship is shown, and that hardship - does not include a financial hardship. If the petitioner is present I would appreciate hearing his story. Mr. Lorion: Well I would like to do something that is a little different in e way of a motel and I think the plan that I have made up is very unusual and I have the set up here and would be pleased to have everyone see the same. I am planning on building my own home here and then having three different types of units to rent. I naturally hrant it to be very attractive and am planning on using red wood for the front and white crushed stone for the roof. They are going to -be very different and I can see no reason for anyone to object'to them. I have a family and plan to make this my home. I am originally from Worcester end anyone can look up my character and reputation in that town. I do very nice building and have a good reputationas a build- dr and contractor. Harold es* We have the plans here and I would like you people to come lWana Looxem over. We will take up the buildings acid then the signs. TOWN OF YARMOUTH BOARD OF APPEALS Appeal No. 271 - page 2 Harold Ha as: Now we will discuss the signs. Mr. Lorion: I.think the buildings have been taken care of. I know the PRETO of -signs is a very difficult one., but I feel since vV place is off the road a bit and on a curve it is necessary for me to have something to call the place to the attention of the public. I feel I rhould have the signs I asked for and I would like to have neon algae. I feel there should be a double faced sign with the name of the place and two entrance signs and an office sign. Edward aosselin: I realize that with your project you definitely need signs u am strongly opposed to neon signs. If they should be granted to you that would eliminate all the other signs along the road and no one would have any business. It is Natural that the neon sign would attract all the attention. I am wondering if you would consider something other than '- neon. Mr. Lorion: Well I only want something that would be in keeping with the o her p ces and I don't want to do anything to create any hard feelings with uy neighbors. I plan to live here and I want everything to be good. I want to cooperate xbk with everyone Mr. !a Les: The Board will take into consideration the zoning bylaws., and as you ave stated it is not necessary to have neon signs. Probably flood lights could be used and bring the same effect. Mr. Ormsbeet I have known Mr. Lorion for four years and the work: he has ne His een a credit to the town. I fool sure that argthing that he would do down here would be of the highest quality. Peter Wkes: As I understand it this property is zoned for business, and no variance is needed for a motelp the variance is for having more than one building on a lot. I am in favor. Harold Ha es: We always must keep in mind the zoning bylaw and that states that only one building can be put on a lot. Peter kes: The hardship in this case is -that if he divided this plot of limd and built the various units it would not be as attractive as he has planned to do. iiermadCurtis: I have looked at the plot plan and the lay -out and feel VMV-Ms would be an assesst to the town and not detrimental to the neighbor- hood. I really feel it would be an inproyement to the town. Howard Cra : I also thlbk it is a very good thing and that adjacent to the proper y e is going to have his own living quarters. k, . 1, TOWN OF YARMOUTH BOARD OF APPEALS Appeal No. 271 - page 3 Cklbert Studley: I happen to be a builder and I am not against this., but I Would ce to see the elevation plans. I would like to see a different sort of building goigg there. I don It like t a see this modern stuff and feel that something more/ eping 'With the Cape would look nicer. This ranch type might be 0. K. for some places., but I like the Cape Cod type house better. I am not against this project though. Harold Hayes: If there in nothing further tofay I will declare the hearing BeCLO
