Prior to being issued your Occupancy Permit by the Building Department
which states that "No building shall be occupied until a certificate of
occupancy has been issued by the Building Inspector" ; and, to ensure the
satisfactory compliance with all State and Town regulations , it is required
that you obtain the signatures of the following inspectors/departments, in
the order as listed at the bottom of this page. A brief explanation for
each department follows :
1. Engineering Department : For parking and drainage requirements ,
topography, site plan review - a certified inspection report from the
owner' s engineer is required prior to an onsite inspection by Engineering
Department personnel.
2 . Conservation : If lot borders on any type of wetlands , i. e . , streams ,
ponds , rivers , ocean, bay, bogs , marsh, etc.
3 . Water Department : For compliance with regulations .
4 . Fire Department : For property protection, personal safety, i.e . ,
sprinklers , smoke detectors , etc.
5 . Wiring Inspector : For compliance with State Electrical Code , etc .
6. Plumbing Inspector : For compliance with State Plumbing Code , etc .
7 . Health Department : For compliance with State and Town Sewage Disposal
Regulations , and other helath related activities , etc .
8 . Building Inspector : For compliance with all State and Town regulations/
departments/inspectors , etc.
