(BSC) is pleased to submit this Invasive Species Management Plan for the area along the top of the coastal bank at 2 Channel Point Drive in West Yarmouth (the Site) to the Yarmouth Conservation Department on behalf of our client Jake Simmons. In 2019 an invasive species management plan was submitted to Yarmouth Conservation detailing a glyphosate treatment to manage the invasive Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica) and the Common reed (Phragmites australis) along the coastal bank at 2 Channel Point Drive. That invasive species management plan was completed which destabilized the coastal bank leaving areas bare of ve getation. A new NOI was submitted to Yarmouth Conservation to stabilize the bank with native plants. The bank has been planted multiple times with some success. However, invasive species still remain growing along the top of the coastal bank. As such, we are proposing a new invasive species management plan for the Site. This proposed invasive species management plan will include 3 consecutive years of invasive species management at the Site; starting in 2026 and going through 2028. There are three invasive species growing along the coastal bank at the Site including (1) Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica), (2) the common reed (Phragmites australis) and (3) oriental bittersweet vine (Celastrus orbiculatus). All three invasive species will be managed by using a cut and wipe technique with a glyphosate treatment that is safe for use in aquatic sites. Application of the glyphosate treatment will be completed by a licensed chemical handler and will likely occur in late summer/early fall. In spring of 2027 and 2028 a Site visit will be made to evaluate the success of the previous year’s treatment and to determine the scope of treatment for that year. BSC would like to note that the neighboring property to the southwest (8 Channel Point Drive) has a dense stand of Phragmites growing along the top of the coastal bank on that property. The presence of Phragmites along the property line will make it very difficult to fully eradicate that species from our Site, as there will still be possibility of Phragmites spreading from the neighbor’s yard via seed or rhizomes. If you have any questions or comments, please contact BSC’s office at 508-778-8919 or via email at PMancuso@BSCGroup.com Sincerely, BSC Group, Inc. Paul Mancuso WPIT, Associate
