I made a site visit today and conducted a tree assessment of the Pitch Pine of concern. It appears in the
past growing season the tree sustained a significant terpentine beetle infestation (apparent by a large
volume of pitch tubes). This paired with the crown damage sustained by the storm the tree will likely
decline relatively quickly. Due to its proximity to the building I agree with removal to mitigate any chance
of property damage in the future.

Hi Mike,
We have a business owner at 30 Higgins Crowell Rd who wants to remove a tree (recently damaged
in the blizzard, second photo in the attached) from conservation property as he perceives it as a
safety risk, but we don't want it to be removed unless it is deemed a hazard by a certified arborist.
We approved pruning of the tree. Would you be able to assess the tree and let us know what you
think? I woutd be happy to meet you onsite to discuss if you'd prefer.

Is the Town's Tree Warden a certified arborist? If so, would he be able to assess a tree for us? We
have a resident who wants to remove a tree from conservation property, but we don't want it to be
removed unless it is deemed a hazard by a certified arborist.
