ALL WORK SHALL BE UNDERTAKEN IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANY ORDER OF CONDITIONS ISSUED BY THE YARMOUTH CONSERVATION COMMISSION 4. THE EXISTING STAIRS SHALL BE FULLY REMOVED BY HAND METHODS AND REPLACED IN THE EXISTING PROJECTION AREA. 5. THE PROPOSED STAIRWAY FRAME SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF STANDARD DIMENSIONED CONSTRUCTION LUMBER AS INDICATED ON THE TYPICAL DETAIL. THE FRAME TIMBER STOCK SHALL MEET THE YARMOUTH CONSERVATION COMMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT: ALL MEMBERS IN GROUND CONTACT SHALL BE RATED FOR IN -GROUND USE. UNTREATED WOOD SHALL BE INSPECTED AT LEAST TWICE PER YEAR TO EVALUATE AREAS OF DECAY. 6. HARDWARE: PREFERRED HARDWARE, STRAPS AND JOIST HANGERS FOR COASTAL EXPOSURE & ACQ APPLICATION IS STAINLESS STEEL. HARDWARE IS RECOMMENDED TO MEET THE AWPA EXPOSURE SPECIFICATION AC257 FOR ANTI -CORROSION PROTECTION. BOLTS SHALL BE HOT -DIP GALVANIZED STEEL. ALL BOLTS SHALL BE THRU-BOLTS WITH NUTS AND WASHERS. USE OF LAG BOLTS OR "TIMBERLOCK" SCREWS SHALL BE USED WHERE THRU-BOLT LIMITATIONS APPLY AND ONLY UPON OWNERS' ENGINEER APPROVAL. ROUTINE INSPECTION OF THE STRUCTURE AND FASTENER CORROSION CONDITION IS RECOMMENEDED DUE TO WOOD PRESERVATIVE EFFECTS AND COASTAL EXPOSURE. 7. HANDRAIL MAY BE OF A SOFTER WOOD OR COMPOSITE VARIETY SUBJECT TO OWNER'S APPROVAL. 8. SUBSTUTUTION OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS FOR ANY TIMBER COMPONENTS IS SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE OWNER AND ENGINEER. 9. MATERIAL DELIVERY, REFUSE AND DEBRIS COLLECTION, WORK ACCESS SHALL BE FROM THE UPPER BANK ALONG THE EXISTING STAIR ROUTE UTILIZING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THE EXISTING AND COMPLETED PORTIONS OF THE STAIRWAY. MINIMIZE GROUND AND VEGETATION DISTURBANCE. 10. OWING TO MINOR TOPOGRAPHIC VARIATIONS EVALUATION OF THE NEED FOR MINOR PRUNING WILL BE REVIEWED AT TIME OF CONSTRUCTION. THE STAIRWAY STRINGERS SHALL BE BEST FITTED TO THE SLOPE ONCE THE POSTS ARE SET IN GENERAL CONFORMANCE WITH THE PLAN HOLDING TO THE RATIO OF AN APPROX. 7 IN. RISER HEIGHT AND APPROX. 11.5 INCH TREAD WIDTH. FINAL TREAD AND RISER COUNT CAN BE DETERMINED ONCE THE STRINGER IS SET. 11. EACH DAY THE SITE SHALL BE CLEANED OF DEBRIS SUCH AS DISCARDED WOOD MATERIAL. THE OLD STAIR COMPONENTS AND NEW MATERIAL CUT-OFFS SHALL BE DISPOSED OFF SITE. 12. POST SUPPORT INSTALLATION SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY SUITABLE POST HOLE CORER, COMPACTED IN PLACE, OF A MINIMUM OF 4 FT. MIN. EMBEDMENT AS MEASURED FROM ANY POINT ON THE SLOPE. POST BACKFILL SHALL BE HAND TOOL COMPACTED IN 4 INCH LIFTS SUBJECT TO INSPECTION FOR PROPER FIXITY. CROSS BRACE LOWER POSTED SEGMENT EXCEEDING 2 FT. EXPOSURE. EXCESS SOIL SHALL BE REMOVED OR DISTRIBUTED INTO THE SURFACE VEGETATION. CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE POST FOOTINGS ARE NOT ADVISED. CONSULT ENGINEER FOR ANY ALTERNATE POST SUPPORT. THE BOTTOM POST BENT SHALL BE A MIN OF 5 FT. EMBEDMENT. 13. ANY AREA DISTURBED BY CONSTRUCTION FOOT TRAFFIC OR OTHERWISE OBSERVED AS DISTRESSED OR ELIGIBLE SHALL BE PLANTED WITH SWITCH GRASS PLUGS OR OTHER COASTAL HARDY GRASS PLUGS UPON COMPLETION OF THE STAIR WORK WEATHER PERMITTING. 14. IF GRADE CLEARANCE ALLOWS, INSTALL A 2 IN. STOCK PLANK AS A "BACKSTOP" AT GRADE SPIKED TO THE UPHILL SIDE OF THE POSTED BENTS ON THE BANK SLOPE AT INTERVALS TO SLOW INCIDENTAL RUNOFF BENEATH THE STAIRS. 15.
