Hi Joe, Please find our responses to your questions below: -In 83-2408 a revetment was suggested as an alternative but was rejected in favor of a bulkhead. Why is this no longer the preferred alternative? The stone revetment is now the preferred alternative for several reasons: a. The vibratory or impact equipment required to install a sheet pile bulkhead poses a potential risk to both the existing stone revetment sections and the adjacent restaurant structure. b. A sheet pile bulkhead does not function as an energy attenuator, whereas a stone revetment dissipates wave energy more effectively. c. The toe stones proposed for the sheet pile bulkhead were to be placed along the surface of the riverbed, providing no meaningful scour protection. d. The proposed stone revetment would be constructed entirely of natural materials, unlike the sheet pile alternative. e. The stone revetment is consistent with the existing shoreline protection structures located up- and down-river along Parker's River. -Will a cofferdam still be needed for construction of a revetment as mentioned in 83-2408? A cofferdam is not proposed as part of the stone revetement construction. -How much sediment will be needed? Approximately 42 cubic yards of clean fill is proposed as part of the project. The fill is intended to reconstruct the portion of the riverbank that has eroded. The proposed fill is located landward of the mean low-water line and will not alter the grain size distribution of the existing sediment. -We will need a COC request to close out 83-2408, prior to the meeting or prior to preconstruction if design isn't settled yet. A COC request for Order 83-2408 will be submitted prior to the preconstruction meeting, contingent upon approval of the proposed design. -83-2353 was issued a COC, but it does not appear that it was ever recorded. The COC for 83-2353 will be recorded prior to the commencement of any work. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions. Thanks, Phellyp T.
