COMMS FOR SECONDARY ABUTTERS & ANCIENT CEMETERY ABUTTERS:
We are writing to let local residents in proximity to Thacher Park/Playground and the Ancient
Cemetery know about an upcoming Town event on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 10:00 am-
3:00 pm at the Thacher Park Playground and the Ancient Cemetery.
The Legacy of Liberty free admission event is open to the public and includes a dedication of
Yarmouth's Revolutionary War Monument at Thacher Park/Playground, grave markers for
Revolutionary War soldiers at the Ancient Cemetery on Center Street and a living history fair
with colonial trades demonstrators, militia re-enactments, fife & drum corps and food trucks (at
Thacher Park/Playground). The event commemorates the 250th anniversary of Yarmouth
declaring its independence and you can get all the details on the Town of Yarmouth website at
bit.Iy/varmouth250. We hope you can join us!
As you live in one of the surrounding locations, we want to make sure you are informed about
how traffic and parking for the day is being handled to minimize any disruption for you and your
neighbors.
As no parking is available at the Playground, all attendees are directed to park at DY
Intermediate school where continuous free school bus shuttles to and from the park will run all
day. Police detail will be managing traffic on 6A and both Old Church and Playground streets will
be closed to through traffic with only the shuttle buses and local neighborhood traffic allowed.
Please be aware that although we will be directing everyone to park at DY Intermediate school,
some may seek out parking closer to the event in the surrounding neighborhoods and if you are
concerned about your property, please feel free to post no parking signage.
We hope you experience minimal disruption and will join us for this momentous and fun
celebration!
