My property is located at 50 Wood Rd, South Yarmouth, which is diagonal house from the proposed housing development. I received the public hearing notice regarding the applicant's request for zoning amendment to allow for property development of six single family, affordable homes. After reviewing the proposal, I am writing to formally express my opposition to this request. While I support the development of affordable homes, and the mission of habitat for humanity, the current proposal poses significant concerns for the immediate neighborhood. Specifically, I am concerned about: [Street Safety]: The proposed plan is for new homeowners to enter from Wood Road. As the transportation reports notes this street is 25MPH street, we(neighbors) continue to complain to town about high-speed traffic on this road currently. We have a lot of people (from our neighborhood and adjoining neighborhoods) use this road to walk to WindMill beach/Smuggler beach. Adding six family homes to Wood Rd will dramatically increase traffic, and additional people walking. I did not see any information on the transportation summary. This town should care about the safety and lives of this neighborhood. ■ Suggestion to avoid some of this: ■ Reduce the number of proposed homes ■ Require entrance into proposed development from Route 28 not Wood road. ■ Add sidewalks to Wood Road. Thank you for your time, consideration, and dedication to maintaining the integrity of our community's zoning regulations. I look forward to discussing this matter further at the upcoming public hearing. Sincerely, David and Mary Krapf
