Katz 99 Sullivan Rd. West Yarmouth, MA 02673 Re: Complaint of Containers of Toxic or Hazardous Materials Stored Outside at 703 Route 28 Dear Mr. Katz, Finding It has come to my attention based on photos provided by the Yarmouth Conservation Commission that several containers of toxic or hazardous materials of motor oil, hydraulic oil, and antifreeze, in addition to automotive batteries are stored outside at your property at 703 Route 28. Possible Violation Town of Yarmouth, Board of Health Regulation: Handling and Storage of Toxic or Hazardous Materials, requires toxic and hazardous materials be protected from vandalism (Section 9 B), protected from the elements (Section 913), and stored within secondary containment (Section 10 C). Corrective Measures If these containers are completely empty, please dispose of them properly. If these containers hold toxic or hazardous materials, please remove them from the property or dispose of them properly. Regarding proper disposal, if you are certain that the containers hold the product for which they are labeled, you may bring waste oil and antifreeze to the Yarmouth Disposal Area and check with gate attendant on disposing of the materials to the oil and antifreeze recycling tanks. If you are unsure of what materials are held within the containers you can request to have them characterized at a Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection. Please contact Anthony Gerace, Hazardous Materials Environmental Specialist, al anthony.Qerace@capecod.pov or 1-800-319-2783, if your materials require identification. If any of the buckets contain latex paint, it can be dried and disposed of in the regular trash. If there is more paint than will dry, you can mix it with cat litter or clay -based absorbent to solidify it. Automotive batteries can be recycled at local auto parts stores. Please correct the conditions within five business days of receipt of this letter and contact me at the Health Office once completed or if you have any questions. Thank you for your kind attention to this matter. Sincerely, G a F_ (4, Carl E.
