COLE rep. Andrew Carter, Construction Services Technician, arrived onsite at approximately 6:22 AM to observe concrete placement activities and perform field testing. Upon arrival, S.W. COLE rep. met with Allen Sulc, representative of Wright-Pierce, to discuss the planned concrete placement activities for the day. Concrete was supplied by Cape Cod Ready Mix. The concrete was reported to be a 1½-inch nominal aggregate, 4,500-psi design mix. Approximately 55 cubic yards of concrete were placed during the observation period. Concrete sampling and field testing were performed in general accordance with applicable ASTM standards. Samples were collected from the first load delivered to the site. The following results were obtained from the first load: First Poured Load – Truck No. 81 Slump: 6 inches Air Content: 3.8% Concrete Temperature: 80°F Concrete placement activities were observed utilizing a pump truck and internal consolidation activities were observed utilizing a worm-type internal vibrator. A total of five (5) 6" x 12" concrete cylinders were cast from the first load for laboratory compressive strength testing, consisting of one (1) cylinder for 7-day testing, one (1) cylinder for 14-day testing, and two (2) cylinders for 28-day testing. One (1) additional cylinder was designated as a hold specimen. Field test results and observations were verbally communicated onsite to Allen Sulc, representative of Wright-Pierce, at the time of testing.
