I think they are an improvement over the original design, which I have also attached for easy reference. Also attached are the DRC comments. Memory Care: I think the only change was to enlarge smaller gable ends which they did and it does look better proportioned. Independent Living: I don’t think the architect did quite what was suggested for replacement of the eyebrows. They are gable ends, but don’t eliminate the soffits to minimize the horizontal look. I like the arch in the new gable ends as I feel it gives a slight nod to the eyebrow on the adjacent buildings without exactly copying them. However, I’m not sure I like the way it goes in at the bottom prior to the eave, but don’t hate it. Seems like a more complicated construction detail. The window change looks better and adds a vertical element. I would love to hear what Sara and the committee thinks of these changes and whether they feel we need another meeting to provide comments to the ZBA saying these issues were addressed. I am sorry I was unable to attend the Design Review meeting. I understand from reading the comment sheet (attached) that the board was looking for us to reconsider some of the exterior details and massing. Attached are proposed revisions which we believe address the concerns while keeping the project in relation to the existing building. Prior to submitting formally, I thought it would be a good idea to confirm that these revisions address the comments to the boards satisfaction. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you. Andrew N.
