Hi Kathy, As you know I won't be there. I am generally OK with this proposal but still have the
following minor reservations: I'm not thrilled about the long parking lot fronting Route 28 and feel
the parking in rear really should apply for a new build like this. I feel the 3 story building still looks a
bit funny and top heavy but I like the 2 story buildings - hopefully not a huge amount of brown
coloring though - seems to be some different color renderings. Also it appears that the intent is still
to completely clear cut the site with the exception of a few trees right along Bannister Lane. While I
recognize this may be easier and that there are not a whole lot of areas where the mature trees can
be retained based on site work, there are nevertheless some areas and these trees should be marked
and retained wherever possible. Thanks.

Hi Guys,
Please find attached the Formal Design Review submittal for 69 residential
housing units to be located at the former Cavalier property at 881 Route
28. Also attached is the Agenda for the DRC meeting which is scheduled for
Tuesday October 18, 2016 at 3:30 PM in the Hearing Room. I am
expecting all DRC members except for Dick Martin. Jack McCormack will be
chairing the meeting. I would anticipate that members of the public will be
present, including Attorney David Reid.
The project proponent is trying to design the project in full compliance with
the Zoning Bylaw. This requires the project to meet all the standards as
outlined in the attached Architectural and Site Design Standards (or be Not
Applicable). I have also attached the Formal DRC Comments for the
withdrawn 120-unit/commercial proposed project for your easy reference.
I have reviewed the submittal information and have the following comments,
which were relayed to the Applicant:
1. Landscape Plan: On the landscape plan, the trees that are remaining within the
buffers need to be identified with regard to size and type in order to give a full
understanding of the buffers being proposed.
2. Site Lighting: Site lighting needs to be shown on the site plans, along with a cut
sheet of the style of lighting and height.
3. Siding Material for Two Story Building: They have added a third type of
siding material to the two-story building at the ends (but are not proposing to use
it on the three story building). It is a white cementitious panel with battens to look
like wood board and batten. I have requested additional information on this
material and they are sending me a cut-sheet which I will forward to the
DRC. They are also bringing samples of all siding materials to the meeting.
Please send a reply to me only letting me know you have received this
information (some larger files are attached) and confirm attendance at the
meeting.

Hi Guys,
I received the Formal Design Review Plans today and noticed something on
the large scale drawings that I didn’t see in the pdf plans. For the two story
building, what siding material are you proposing for the ends? The siding in
this area is not labeled and does not look like it is either vinyl clapboards or
vinyl shakes. Are you proposing to add another siding material? I think this
should match the materials on the rest of the building as you have done for
the three story building. You should also bring examples or cut sheets of the
materials to the DRC meeting along with a color board. This will give the
public a better understanding of what the buildings will look like.
