I alsoobserved that the second floor included a full kitchen installed in one of the bedrooms, as well as a fullbathroom. There is a door at the head ofthe stairs, separating the two floors into separate dwellingunits. There is an exterior staircase from the upstairs that provides a second means of egres, to grade.

The Building Department has no permits on file for the alteration of the finished basement into anapartment, or for the alteration of the second floor into a separate apartment. The house is assessed as asingle-family dwelling' The existence of the two apa(ments means that the house has been convertedfrom a single-tamily house into a multi-family dwelling. Such conversion is allowed oniy uy speciatpermit from the Board of Appeals.
