RE: SE 83-2535 Certificate of Compliance — 0 Great Island Road, West Yarmouth -
Map 1 / Parcel 1— Beach Access Stair Replacement, Point Gammon
To the Conservation Commission,
Attached please find Form 8A and a check in the amount of $75 for a Certificate of
Compliance for the beach access stair replacement at 0 Great Island Road, Point
Gammon, Great Island.
The existing stair was removed completely and the new stair case was constructed in
segments off- site and brought in for installation thus avoiding the on -site milling of
treated wood and related debris.
One deviation of note is: The replacement stairs measure 35 inches from outside of the
stringers. The existing stairs measured 27 inches from outside the stringers. I made an
inquiry to TA Nelson, Inc., the builder, as to the reason. Tom Nelson had passed away
recently and I was unable to get an answer except it was likely a matter of judgement not
to create such a narrow stair as the former one. The stair as constructed is narrower than
most all typical C. Bank stairs. The change represents an approximate 24 s.f. projection
increase but the facility is of an open rise frame, facing south and I did not observe any
negative effects from the change.
With Commission acceptance of the change and the fact that the remainder of the project
is in compliance, the project would meet eligibility for issuance of a Certificate of
Compliance.
Please contact me directly should you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Cape Cod Engineer* g, Inc.
