HomeMy WebLinkAboutTown Zoning & Mattacheese School Study To:Williams, Kathleen; Leah Schroeder Cc: Grylls, Mark; Greene, Karen Subject: RE: Town Zoning& Mattacheese School Study Leah When will you be making a presentation to the town site plan review committee? This is scheduled through the building dept. Several general questions from the Health Dept. Will there be any increase in septic flow? Increase in class rooms, office space or square footage? Any increase will require an upgrade/new septic system, which may require a treatment plant, with DEP and Board of Health approval Renovations to the kitchen, replacement of equipment? Science room chemical storage, hoods, sink traps, tight tank? Ventilation system, air make up/turnover rates, reviewed? Screens for all windows? Basement/tunnels inspection All out openings along roof sealed closed, to prevent birds from entering building. Field maintenance to track and ball fields, ect? Inspection/evaluation of the septic system would be required Septic system would need to be shown on site plan It would be helpful if we meet to discuss possible renovations and the above points. Most of the sites you have shown are included in the Aquifer Protection Overlay District (APD). Uses in the APD are outlined in Section 202.5—Use Regulation Table and Section 406—Aquifer Protection Overlay District. Also attached in the Zone II map of the wells. You should speak with Bruce Murphy, Health Director, regarding septic flows allowed within the Zone II areas. We will definitely be meeting with town departments and boards regarding all aspects of site, safety, health, construction, conservation, etc., but it will be many months before we even determine what the project is and where it might be located. We are in a very preliminary phase (feasibility study) and our immediate efforts are aimed at understanding potential sites and gross restrictions. I think we started with a list of 8 possible sites that were town or district owned and large enough for a school. As we've started look at the restrictions, we realize most are protected. We plan to chart these restrictions for the record and so the public can understand what are and are not viable sites.
