To: Yarmouth Old King's Highway Historic District Committee
Subject: 26-A119 Fencing 88 and 100 Mill Lane Yarmouth Port
Dear Members of the Yarmouth Old King's Highway Historic District Committee,
We are property owners of 122 Water Street and abutters to the above -named property.
Our property is elevated and located approximately 50 feet across from the Brahmst property on
Water Street, providing us with a clear and direct view of the pasture referenced in the application
materials submitted for your consideration.
Our principal concern is the proposed design and placement of the perimeter fencing and
animal enclosures. Specifically, the application materials do not clearly explain how close
animals will be permitted to graze or roam in relation to the existing perimeter along Water
Street. We believe these details are important to understanding the proposal's visual impact
from neighboring properties and the public way.
In support of the application, the applicant states that "the principal elements are the driveway
gates and limited portions of the adjoining front paddock" and that "views into the property are
either screened from the public way or visible only in brief, oblique views through existing
vegetation." However, this characterization does not reflect our experience from the vantage
point of our home. Given our elevated position directly across from the property, we have a
clear and direct view of the pasture. Consequently, the proposed fencing, animal pens, and the
presence and movement of animals may be considerably more visible from our property than
the application suggests.
We respectfully ask the Committee to consider this perspective when evaluating the application
and to seek clarification regarding the proposed fencing and enclosure locations, their design
and materials, and the extent to which they will be visible from neighboring properties and
Water Street.
Our intention is to ensure that the application is evaluated with full consideration of its actual
visual impact, including the perspective of neighboring residents whose properties offer direct
views of the site. We appreciate the Committee's time and careful attention to these matters
and respectfully request that our concerns be taken into account as part of its deliberations.
Sincerely, ED
