Centerville, MA 02632 July 8, 2014 Bruce Murphy, Director of Health Town of Yazrnouth 1146 Route 28 So. Yannouth, MA 02664 Re: 3 Carrie Lane, South Yarmouth Dear Mr. Murphy: Thank you for taking the time to meet with me on Tuesday, July 151 regazding the above-address and the number of designated"bedrooms"and the size of the septic system. As I explained to you, rather inarticulately I am sure, the property was owned by my pazents and in 1998 my brother was issued a building permit to enlazge the gazage to two bays and add an in- law apartment over the garage. The plan also called for the removal of the wa11 between two small bedrooms in the original house. However, rather than removing the enfire wall a passage way was cut through the wall connecting the two rooms. One room has always been used as a bedroom and the other as a den. I am told that, the house is listed in the town records as being three bedrooms with a three bedroom sepric system. Now that my pazents and brother have passed, the family is attempting to sell the property and the inconsistency between the 1998 Applicarion for a Building Permit and the actual wnstrucrion has been brought to my attention. The prospect buyers have indicated that they want the sma11 room to remain a den. They do not wish to make it or use it as a bedroom. Accordingly, the faznily respectfully request that the Boazd of Health acknowledge that the residence, as built, consists of three(3)bedrooms and a den or in the alternarive grant permission to the family to create a four(4') foot opening, without doors, between the hall and the small room and leave the wall between the two (2)rooms, as built, with the existing opening between the rooms. I have attached hereto a copy of the"floor plan"to the primary structure at 3 Carrie Lane which was submitted with the Application for a Permit to Build in 1998. The passage way between the two rooms which was created in 1998 is shown in red as is the alternative proposed opening between the hall and the small room. , r. ,,,E, Bruce Murpby,Director of Health Town of Yarmouth July 8,2414 Page 2 Will you kindly place this rnatter on the Board o£Health's agenda for Jnly 21, 2014, so that the family can explore the apporhuiity af retaining the small room as a den without removing the entire wall between the two rooms as was originally anriaipated. As I will be out of town on July 21, 2014,my brother Fred Wilkins will appeaz at the hearing aad present the farnily's pasitian and request. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. !
