North Steve Crowley 34 Circuit Rd North West Yarmouth, Ma 02673 508-957-2687 Thank you for allowing me to inspect your home as well as the basement apartment at the above address. 1 know the eviction process can be difficult at times. I was happy to assist you in replacing a smoke detector in the basement apartment. I hope that will help to make the situation a little safer for all parties involved. During my inspection today, April 23, 2015 at 1445 hrs, I did observe that three smoke detectors were missing from the home. The first one being on the£rst floor stairway leading to the basement apartment. The other two missing detectors were in the basement, one at the bottom of the stairs and the second one being in a bedroom just off the interior stairway of the home. I observed two bedrooms in the basement, neither had any windows or any secondary means of egress from the rooms. Also there is a full kitchen with stove and refrigeretor. I have great concerns over the overall safety of the occupants living in the basement, those concerns stem from the continued removal of smoke detectors by the tenant and also the lack of egress from the basement sleeping areas. I advised the realtor working with you, to have an electrician come to the home and replace the detectors needed and also the CO/smoke combo detectors that are close to expiration. This will help to add to the overall safety of all persons living in the home, while the eviction process plays out. I was glad to hear from you Steve, as the owner, that your intent is to disassemble the basement apartment once the tenant has moved out. I am not sure what exactly is needed to accomplish that, therefore I have Cc'd the building inspector Andy Arnault and the building commissioner Mark Grylls in this email, where as I am required by law to report any building code violations that I observe during my inspections. Thank you again for letting me inspect the home today and help to make the home a little safer for you and your family. (Sept 2014) Two bedrooms, or one bedroom and a "play room" with a cased opening, on 1 S floor and one bedroom and attic storage on the 2"d floor. The basement is shown on the current iowner's sketch as one half storage and the other half "entertainment-rec room" with a bathroom. The basement bathroom existed previous to Mr. Crowley's purchase from Mr. Aronne. It is not registered as a rental. No history of renting at the address exists here.
