MEMORANDUM
To: Robert C. Lawtoa, Jr., Town Administrator
From: Jim Armentrout, Director of Golf Operations
Subject: Golf Course Liquor Sales
Date: August 21, 2008
In response to your Memorandum of August 18, 2008 regazding the authorization of the
sale of alcoholic beverages on the golf course, I met with the Golf Enterprise Committee
on August 25 to discuss the issue.
It is the recommendation of the Golf Enterprise Committee as me, that the Selectmen
support a request for the Food Concessionaire to sell Beer and Wine on the Bass River
Golf Course.
The recommendation is made with the following restrictions:
1. No Sales may occur within 100 feet of any public or private street.
2. No Sales may occur within 100 feet of the Golf Course parking lot or entrance road, or
within 50 feet of the Golf Clubhouse, except in the area currently licensed to the Food
Concessionaire.
3. The Licensed Concessionaire abide by all Massachusetts Laws and regulations
regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages.
4. Any vehicle utilized to distribute the alcoholic beverages on the course must meet the
approval of the Director of Golf Operations, and no other vehicle may be substituted
without written approval.
5. Any vehicle utilized on the course to distribute the alcoholic beverages must be
operated in such a manner such as not to interfere with the enjoyment of the course by the
course patrons.
6. No more than one vehicle may be utilized to distribute alcoholic beverages on the Bass
River Golf Course at any one time, unless permitted in writing by the Bass River Golf
Operations Manager or by the Director of Golf Operations.
7. Evidence of Required Insurance must be provided to the Director of Golf Operations
by the Concessionaire License holder. (Liability Insurance Requirement is $3,500,000
with the Town of Yazmouth listed as an additional insured on the Policy)
8. Evidence of TII'S training of any individual hired and utilized to distribute alcoholic
beverages on the course must be provided to the Director of Golf Operations by the
Concessionaire License holder.
With these restrictions in place the Committee and i feel that an adequate degree of
control will be provided over the consumption of alcohol on the Bass River Golf Course,
and that the likelihood of overconsumption on the course will be diminished.
