Subject: Bass River Motel Date: Mazch 10, 2004 Several weeks ago I received a call from Mr. Thomas Burke regazding property he owns at 32 Banister Lane and issues which his tenants have raised regarding the Bass River Motel. As a result of that memo, I received from Lt. Xiazhos the attached report regazding incidents which have occurred at the Bass River Motel over the past three years. Would you please review these calls with the police department and make a determination as to whether or not there should be a hearing regarding the Bass River MotePs license. Lawton, Jr., the Yarmouth Police Department has been involved with the Bass River ffiotel as follows: • 10 calls for service in 2004 • 33 calls for service in 2003 • 9 calls for service in 2002 A review of the calls for service indicates the following: 2004 The 10 calls-for-service in 2004 generally relate to 1 arrest and the attempts to locate someone wanted on an outstanding warrant who was living at the motel. There are also several calis regarding assistance in the civil eviction process of long-term rental. 2003 The 33 calls-for-service in 2003 generally involve 3 separate arrests—several thefts—and several restraining order services. There are also several calls to keep the peace and assist in civil matters regarding long-term rentals. 2002 The 9 calls-for-service generally consist of a domestic violence incident—a disturbance—and a warrant service. 32 Bannister Lane A review of the calls for service involving 32 Bannister Lane indicate the following: • 1 in 2004 • 3 in 2003 • 0 in 2002 The calls generally involve 3 separate reports of suspicious persons—including a peeping tom. One of the suhjects involved is staying at the Bass River Motel. The peeping tom suspect has not been identified. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patrol Officers and Detectives indicate persons living at the motel on a long-term basis. They also report that known drug dealers have also lived there.
