Restanrant promises new septic system
Managers of thc 99 Restaurant on Berry Avenue in
West Yannouth told the Yannou�h Board of Health on
l Monday�afternoon that thev plan to havc a new septic
-systcm in place by next spnng.
The restaurant tias not been in compliance with the
��tenns oC its agreement with the town since last spring
; wheo an altemative septic system designed to remove
� nivogen from wastewater failed. Rcpresentatives of the
`� restaucant chain said[hey have found a company[hat can
� �install a new alternative system and are currently work-
+ing through the em�ironmental regulauons at the state
�.leveL�A new leaching field was installed at the restaurant
last summer and the existing sep[ic system is being
pumped frequendy, according ro the spokesmen for the
rest�urant,who met with the board of health.
Believing the restaurant is working in good faith to
comply with the terms il agreed [o with the town, the
- board of health twk no ac[ion. Health Director Bruce
� jMurphy said if die restaurant cannot be brought into
��compliance, its seuting capacity, and the amo�nt of
wastewater it produces,will have to be reduced.
