H £ AL1' H To: Bob Lawton Town Administrator From: David Flaherty, RS. Health Inspector Re: China Inn Complaints Date: June 19. 2003 On June 18, 2003 I received a complaint regarding China Inn having violations and problems. The most serious alleged violation was that a possible minor was behind the bar serving alcoholic beverages to patmns. I performed a follow-up inspection on the same day and found the establishment had three bartenders who all appeazed to be least forty yeazs old. I spoke to the manager who assured me that only these three bartenders were allowed behind the bar, not minors. (No children were observed in the lounge or kitchen). Another problem was that communication was extremely difficuh with customers due to the lack of understanding of English by the wait staff. I understood the waiter whom I spoke to without difficulty and he responded to my inquiries appropriately. I told the manager that another complaint was that the food tasted "terrible". He responded that no one has complained yet about the food but that he w°ould pay close attention to the prepazaiion and serving of the vazious dishes. I will perform routine inspections periodically as required for the China Inn's Food Service Pernut. If minors are observed behind the bar, I will be sure to forward that information to your office for appropriate action. c.c.: Sonia Wreyford, Licensing file L rn¢t^ar: Retyc{rc gar
